Frequently Asked QuestionsIf you are considering taking a flight with Ron, here are some frequent questions and answers! What flight ratings and experience does Ron have?Ron is a licensed Private Pilot with an Instrument rating. He is rated to fly Single Engine Land aircraft. He has a current 3rd Class Medical. He has over 1,000 hours of experience as pilot in command. Over 800 of these hours have been spent flying as Pilot In Command in a Piper Cherokee, and over 600 in the plane that he now owns with James! Ron has an instrument rating and participates in the FAA Wings flight safety program each year. Do I have to actually fly?No. It can be very interesting to see a small airplane up close! You may sit in the cockpit and have a close look at the instruments and controls that are used. Ron would be very pleased to show you around the plane and answer your questions, even if you never leave the ground in it! How is the flight conducted? We will meet at an airport near you. You'll have an opportunity to ask questions, take a tour of the plane on the ground, and review the maps and paperwork that are a part of the flight planning process. Then we'll climb on board and go for a short flight around the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We may fly to another local airport, or just tour the local area by air. The flight will last between 30 and 60 minutes. We'll return to land at the same airport from which we departed. May a parent accompany a child on the flight?Yes, of course! The plane seats 4 individuals, which leaves 3 seats for passengers. Parents, or other children are welcome. Can someone with a disability go on the flight?Yes. Individuals with disabilities often have aspirations to fly, and we'd be very glad to help them reach this goal! Of course, in a situation where a disability may present a limitation to safety, we will tour the airplane, sit in the cockpit, and stay on the ground. What should be worn?Bring along a pair of sunglasses. (Bring a camera, too!) Wear casual rubber soled shoes. Athletic shoes are great. Do not wear
shoes with high or even "moderate" heals. Eat a light meal that is low in fat before flying. Flying on an empty stomach or after eating a heavy greasy meal, can make some people prone to motion sickness. Please don't bring food to eat in the plane. In the summer, it is a good idea to bring along a bottle of water.
